A Way to Deep Work: Full Focus Kit (2/2)
Internal and external ways to improve focus and concentration. Full focus kit for productivity.
In the modern world, full of distractions where everyone vies for your attention, the ability to focus has become a superpower. Today you will learn how to gain it.
This post is a follow-up to the previous ones about focus and avoiding distractions. If you feel something is missing here, it's because I covered it in the previous articles. So read on:
Then:
I got more about the topic but those 2 are important before you read this one.
External
External causes of distraction are anything in the environment. Noise, people around, unplanned calls. You don't always have control over them, but changing them is much easier than internal ones. No without reason I have put it first, change starts here.
Your main enemy - a smartphone
I’m more than sure social media will be regulated by law in the future.
Social media apps are literally designed to waste as much of your time as possible. It’s a very thoughtfully designed machine. You don’t pay with money, so it seems free. There’s no boundary, you can scroll for infinity. Your friends are there, so you want to check if you have caught up with everything.
I'm not going to discuss all the nasty tricks the big companies use to keep your attention. What I will tell you is how to maximize the traction they are constantly pushing as close to the minimum as possible. These are easy to implement and helpful, but real change requires fixing internal problems.
It’s time for you to take control. Few steps to take now:
Uninstall everything you don’t use.
Turn off notifications, keep only those that are absolutely necessary.
Change the arrangement of applications to: most important on the main page, less important on the second page.
Uninstall apps and use social media in the browser. That’s a way worse experience, and that’s the point.
Turn off autoplay whenever possible.
Unfollow everything that has no value.
Use with intention.
Optionally: keep your phone on grayscale the whole day long.

Environment
Your close environment is a reflection of your daily habits and behaviors. If your room, car and clothes make you look like a loser, you will behave like a loser. And it is nothing about the money, it’s about the style, habits and discipline. Now look at your room. Is this what the room of the person you want to be looks like? Look at your search and shopping history, your YouTube history, your to-do list.
Self improvement starts with self awareness. Write each of those down and analyze it on paper.
You are what you consume
This point is tied close to the previous one. That’s not only about the food you eat, that’s about the media you consume too. Watching shitty memes for an hour a day may seem harmless, but everything you consume influences you in some way, shapes you. Every Instagram reel on TikTok you watch adds a small drop to the sea of your mind, beliefs, and identity. So does every book, movie and conversation, the key is to choose the right ones.
Consume good content and your mind will glow.
Input shit through the eyes and ears and it will go out by mouth.
Internal
