7 Positive Habits You Can Add to Your Day in Under 7 Minutes
Small changes, big impact: 7 simple and easy to implement habits.
Ever feel like you don’t have enough time? Most people think good habits require a complete lifestyle overhaul—but what if just 7 minutes a day could make a real difference?
1. Declutter one thing
I’m big on minimalism. I don’t mean living only with a mattress computer and fridge, I mean having only things that either serve a practical purpose or are some form of art that make your space more personal and and soulful.
That’s why I want you to declutter. One thing a day. Both digital and physical space.
Delete one unnecessary file: Old downloads, duplicate photos, unused apps. My PC’s desktop used to be full of “afafasgsfinal7” type of files. Now, I clean it and change the wallpaper for a refreshment regularly.
Throw away a useless item: Broken, outdated, or no longer needed.
Declutter your room: Your room is the most accurate mirror in your home. Organize a messy drawer, your desk, and the stuff under the bed. Take out one useless thing every time you leave the room.
Unfollow accounts that carry no value: Social media either inspire and educate drain or discourage—your call.
2. Dead hanging
Getting a lifted desk is a great idea but if, like me, you have no space for one, active hanging is a good habit to incorporate.
I have a simple pull-up bar mounted in the door frame. Something like this (affiliate).
This is an accurate image of me doing it:
There’s also active hanging
Which is slightly different.
Dead hang means simply holding onto the bar and allowing gravity to do stretching for you.
Active hanging involves engaging your muscles—particularly your lats, shoulders and core—by pulling your shoulder blades down and maintaining tension in your upper body. It has more athletic carryover.
Having the bar in my room’s door frame. I do it a few times a day.
3. Leave a book in the toilet
And the phone outside.
That simple way you will have nothing more interesting to do than reading either the book or the air freshener label while taking a dump.
4. Midday braindump
Mental shower—a refreshing journal session where you unravel your thoughts.
One unplanned call and your day is turned around even if you organize everything to the dot.
When plans change, going on autopilot with scattered thoughts isn’t the most effective way to handle problems.
Just set the timer for 7 minutes and write down:
The main thing—the day’s central event.
Ongoing things that need to be taken care of.
What you have already done and what you want to get done till the end of the day.
5. Appreciation message
Send a simple voice message to your loved one.
Take a second to drop a positive comment on someone’s post.
Ask a friend about that thing they can’t shut up about. Show genuine interest. It will make their day.
6. Create a done list
Instead of adding new tasks tomorrow to your never ending to-do list, write down everything you have accomplished at the end of the day.
Reflect on them: Were these the best things you could have done, or just the easiest? And the most important—was the thing you did high-leverage?
7. 5 things you are grateful for
My day ends with writing down 5 things I’m grateful for in my notes app.
Can be literally anything: I’m grateful for this bottle of water, this pillow, this nice dream. The only rule is—don’t write about things that haven’t happened yet.
